★FIRST LOOK of 2017★

This is my second time to spend the New Year Day in kimono. I want this to be my New Year tradition :)

January 1st, 2017.

The weather was so beautiful★

I got up at 7am, had Osechi my mother and I cooked the day before for breakfast and threw on this beautiful kimono for the first visit to the shrine.

And after shrine visit, I joined the New Year Mochi party with my friends.

We made 10 kg of rice cake! It was so much fun!

HAPPY NEW YEAR★Hope your 2017 will be amazing and full of love♡

I spent my New Year holiday at my parents house for 5 days. 

The weather in my hometown was beautiful during my stay. 

My friends who are also from my hometown gave me a ride from Tokyo. Thanks!

No need to say but... they conquer you with this cuteness.

On New Year's eve, I helped my mother cook Japanese traditional New Year dish "Osechi"(Wiki).

Steamed chicken rolls. 

Simmered veggies and fish cakes. (Nishime)

Candied dried sardines. (Tatsukuri)

Each dish has a meaning, such as staying healthy, good harvest, happiness etc.... 

My mother is a good cook and make beautiful Osechi like this every year. 

Everything goes well with sake. We love having some sparkling sake on New Year's day.

After celebrating the New Year with Osechi for breakfast, we visited the shrine to send some greetings.

My mother and I also climbed up the hill behind our house to visit the small shrine that she always visits every month.

This place used to be my playground for years when I was younger. 

And it was my second time to spend the New Year's day in kimono.

::Golden Week '16::

We have the week called "Golden Week" in Japan. April 29th, May 3rd, 4th and 5th are national holidays so some people take the whole week off.

My GW in 2016 has been..... about spending great time with my happy friends and lots of food so far.... 

<April 29th>

I went to Jiyugaoka to have some lunch with my freind whom I hadn't seen about two years.

In two years, she got married and became a mother. It was so great to catch up :)

Roasted beef and pasta with, of course, beer :)

There are so many nice restaurants and cafes around this area. I want to come back and find more favorite places.

I was wearing my mimosa kimono on that day.

<April 30th>

My friend and I joined a barbecue party in Ashikaga area in Tochigi.

The GW is the best season for barbecue before the rainy season.

Meat, meat,,,,,

and meat!!!

We had so much fun getting to know new people.

Ashikaga is very famous for Ashikaga Flower Park.

In this season, Fuji (wisterias) is in full bloom and the entire park is so beautiful.

We didn't have time to drop by but I went there last year.

<May 1st>

My life has been enriched by many loving people that I admire so much. 

I got to have nice dinner with one of the most energetic and loving women I know after a meeting.

There is always something new to learn from her. 

Thank you so much for the great dinner.

During this GW, I have another plan to have lots of delicious meat with my family!!

Need to make an exercise plan not to put on some weight...

::First Look 2016::

My very first look in kimono in the year 2016.

I brought three obis from my wardrobe to my parents house with me and chose a perfect kimono from my mother's closet for one of them.

A photo taken before heading to the shrine on the New Year's day.

Lucky was getting sick of me trying to hold him so many times. 

The kimono I picked from my mother's closet.

Beautiful multiple colors woven into the fabric.

The obi that I recently purchased :)

Purple and blue accents added to the warm orange/pink colors.

It snowed a little bit the night before.

Me getting a fortune telling sheet from the shrine.

Because it is more humid in Tokyo than in my hometown, most of my mother's kimonos are better to be kept at my parents house. (The humidity is the worst enemy for authentic silk fabric.)

So there is not many chances that I can wear the ones in her closet.

I like wearing the kimono that was made for my mother because my family loves seeing me walking in it.

Now.... what should I wear for the annual New Year lunch with my family next weekend?
