::City of Art::

日本語ver. → こちら

Hi, I'm back from Portland, OR!
It'd been about two years and a half since I visited there last. It was so awesome to be back for my sister's wedding.

After the 9 hour long flight,

I took the light rail train called MAX to downtown Portland to see my friend.

The center of downtown Portland, Pioneer Courthouse Square.
I was expecting the weather to be sunny and clear but there was a huge forest fire and ashes made the sky so smoky.
For the last couple of days during my stay, the air got much clearer and the weather was so nice.

My friend took me to Zeus Cafe for lunch.

They have deeeelicious egg benedict♡
I couldn't finish it cause my stomach felt kinda weird from jet lag.

But who can resist beer from famous micro breweries in Portland?
For dessert, my friend took me to his favorite chocolate place, called Cacao. Have you ever tried "Drinking Chocolate"???

It is literally drinking chocolate. Thick melted chocolate in a espresso cup.
It's really smooth, sweet and a little bit fruity. They come with different flavors such as mint and spices.

Inside the cafe was really quiet and relaxing.
They also have chocolates made in Portland, so this place is a good place to shop for souvenirs.

I realized there are many pieces of wall art everywhere in the city.

Last time I was here, it was raining so hard and I didn't have much time to explore how much the city had changed. It was nice to look around and be a "tourist" during my stay.

Another fun place my friend took me to was "Punch Bowl Social" located at Pioneer Place.
It's a huge pub with an arcade, pool tables, table tennis, karaoke etc...
You can even watch soccer games and football games at the same time at their counters. It was such a cool place.

We should have a fun hang out with my friends next time I'll be there.

More from my trip to Portland coming up soon :)
Including my kimono look for the wedding!

Thank you for reading!

::Beach Weekend::

日本語ver. → こちら

HAPPY BEACH WEEKEND in Kanagawa.

Hydrangea is in full bloom before the rainy season is over.
We haven't got many heavy rains or storms this year so it doesn't feel like we are in the rainy season. But the temperature is obviously hot enough to feel summer is here.

Last Saturday, I got up around 5am and headed to Kugenuma beach for a surf lesson.
Until last spring, I was far from beach people but I met a great friend who is (was?) a professional surfer last summer and started taking lessons from him since.

Surf day is my "no-make up" day.

My surf wardrobe :)

The weather was warm enough not to wear a wet suit. The water was warm and the sun came out of the clouds during the lesson. It felt sooooo good.
It was my 4th lesson this summer and my friend says I'm making progress!! Woo hooo :)
My goal for this summer is to be able to catch a (little) wave without my friend's help.

Next day, I happened to have lunch with my friend who lives in Chigasaki, a little east from the Kugenuma beach. So yeah.... 1 hour train trip again.
My friend made a reservation at the beautiful Italian restaurant where the local beers are served.

Love the atmosphere of their entrance.

Shonan Beer.

Everything was delicious and felt like I was somewhere in Karuizawa.

Weizen.
Light taste with a little bitterness.

After yummy chatty lunch with my friend and her little cute boy, I took a walk to the Chigasaki beach.

It was about 30 min walk from the station.

I saw many surf families on the beach.

Little cute surfer :)
She didn't move from there for a while though.... lol

It was my first time to go to Chigasaki beach and the ocean looked so much different from the beach where I always take surf lessons.

What a refreshing weekend :)
I have so many summery events ahead this month!
Camping, Pool, BBQ, Surf, and Baseball games!

I'm so excited :)

Thank you for reading.

::African Festival::

日本語 ver. → こちら

Just a super ordinary Sunday.
After a dance practice with my friends in the morning, I headed to Yoyogi park to see if there was some festival going on there. (Usually they have some event / festival / flea market on every weekend. )
I found out they were having the antique market and African festival last weekend.

It was not as crowded as Thai festival which is so crazy with lots of people every year.

Found some funny items they sell on the street.

Cute shiba.

Hot dog truck.

When I got there, they were having a dance show on the main stage.

African food with beer, anyone?

Wall art.

It was such a beautiful sunny day during this rainy season.
Instead of African food, I was craving for something spicy....

Mexican food!!!
Spicy beef burrito with beer. Perfect :)

And.... this is nothing to do with the African fes but I just learned the recipe of delicious granola salad from my friend last week.
This salad will be my obsession for a while!

Thank you for reading.
