::Tokyo Edo Week '17::

日本語ver. → こちら

My first time at TOKYO EDO WEEK
My friend who runs a community media "KIMONO BIJIN" invited me to join a fashion show as a self-styled model at the event last weekend.
The theme of the show was "Halloween" so the models who came to the show were in kimonos with their own unique styles.

The entrance was beautifully lit up with Japanese paper lanterns.

Luckily I got my hair done by a professional hair dresser backstage before the show.

She did a great job making this cool updo with my short hair.

Hair close to the nape of my neck is really short so it is really hard to do this by myself. She taught me little tips to put short hair up like this.

READY FOR THE SHOW♡

We had 14 other models who styled themselves based on the theme "Halloween".
Let's see some of the unique styles♡

::Citrus & Scales::

日本語ver. → こちら

For the kimono show at Kimono Salone last weekend, I wore my favorite kimono in vivid citrusy colors to match the feeling of Yasuo Aono's kimonos.

The show was amazing, nonetheless to say.
Details of the show is on my previous post HERE

Some of my friends thought I was dressed for Halloween... LOL
I felt not so uncomfortable walking on streets with Halloween people, though.

I found this scaled obi online for a really good price.
This obi is a little softer than other obis I have. It felt much easier to tie it.

::Kimono Show::

日本語ver. → こちら

A friend of mine from Kyoto kindly invited me to an amazing kimono show at Kimono Salone in Nihonbashi, Tokyo last weekend.
Yasuo Aono from Aono Koubou (青野工房) is one of the kimono artisans who creates modern and playful kimonos in the most graceful way. When I started wearing kimono a couple of years ago, I was net-surfing in search of great kimono artisans and found his collections which caught my eyes. I'm so honored to finally see his creations on runway.

Every piece was so beautiful that everyone can fall in love with.
Yasuo Aono himself is also a musician and the background music was all beatles :)

With the designer, Yasuo Aono.

After the show, my friends and I had fun seeing some workshops provided by kimono artisans.

Painting workshop.

Demonstration of how to make silk strings from cocoons.

My new friend from Saudi Arabia tried reeling silk off cocoons.

Beautiful kimono with gorgeous lilies displayed.

Actually it was my first time to visit Kimono Salone. It was so much fun learning about kimonos with my friends there.
